Celebrity day off

Not a day goes by where I don't think, WHAT DO I WEAR TODAY?! Even on my day off last week! I found myself thinking I'd pull a celeb look, where paparazzi goes nuts on Rodeo Drive while I'm shopping OR just...chillin in a parking garage with my sister :) I wanted to wear my new grenade pendent that hubby got for me on vaca in Playa del Carmen, Mexico recently. The outfit came together from there, where I felt a little edgy and sort of... DA BOMB!

What do you like to wear on your day off?

On me: Distressed jeans - Arden B, an over sized tank with pockets - Kimchi & Blue, Urban, bandeau tube top layered beneath - Free People, shoes - Frye wedges.

Harajuku! Bless you! I mean, Bless shoes!

I'm in love with my Harajuku Lover's Arlanda shoes right now. Angry Asian Creations captured these shoes during one of our photo shoots this winter. They are so fun to wear and weirdly enough so comfortable.

Back to the grind

Yes. I said it. Back to the grind of the work week. I've been spoiled the past few days of holiday fun with no commitments. Nothing but chillaxing with my hubby, family & friends. It was hard to haul myself out of bed this morning as I fumbled through my dressing room for the perfect Monday outfit. Is there even such a thing as a perfect Monday outfit? Well I tried to put one together if there was ever one that exists. The color grey keeps lurking back into my life. It's such a dull, plain and simple color yet it goes so well with mixing and layering. How could I ever let it leave entirely? Never!

It was also hard to get out of my yoga/knit jersey/stretch cotton wardrobe I've become accustomed to. In my attempt to pleasing every part of me and and coming out of my lazy bubble I chose a comfy work outfit that suited my mood and my desire to look appropriate on my first day out into the real world. Oh holiday world is going to be missed so bad! This outfit was carefully chosen to NOT include my rain boots w/ fleece liners or my sheep skin lined boots; two of my bff's the past few days. The sun was out and it told me the cold was still here but the snow will soon be gone. The warmth and coziness in what I chose had to be #1 priority today.

Layering my grey and black tones and decorating my neck line with soft tones that picked up other colors in this look was the success to my departure to work.

On me: BCBGeneration knit turtleneck, Express knit cardigan, Anne Taylor Loft trousers, vintage marble beaded necklace, BCBG purse and H&M wedged shoes.

DKNY TGIF

It's Friday, I'm feeling a little edgy, and what else makes a girl feel better than having her soles feel good!

I snagged these babies last yr and found that I rarely wear them; I may have only worn them ONCE. I forgot how comfy they were too! Pulling these kicks out of my shoe closet and dusting its' shoulders off I paired it w/ dark colored skinny capri jeans and a dark grey and white sleeveless blouse that ties a bow around my neck.

These are DKNY Rachelle's (Barrington) with the Insolia technology in a metallic midnight blue color.

While researching these shoes I found a little more information. Actually very cool information about the inventor of the Insolia technology. A world renowned Podiatrist, Dr. Howard Dananberg, invented the Insolia, a geometrical pad that can be worn with high heels to shift the weight back onto heels. DKNY adopted and picked up this technology into some of the shoes in their line.

Shirt Dress Shirt

Is it a shirt? Is it a dress? Or is it a shirt dress? I can't decide! It's too short and sheer to be a dress alone. It's too much for a shirt with pants. So, I paired this shirt dress w/ a pair of shorts and a tank underneath to make myself not to sheer and exposing but also still not too much to be all hot and bothered. It worked out to be a fun loving outfit for an afternoon downtown.

My shirt/dress, agh! whatever it's called was a new find during my NYC July 4th trip. I found it at a sale store that had everything under $20. I loved this shirt so much because of the soft cotton that I got 2! One in blue and white pinstriped and this one in black and white pinstriped. I love lil' sis' so much I gave her the blue one. HA! Makes up for her never have worn the coral dress before.

Jumping for good weather

We have been so lucky the past few weeks with great weather. Being in our nation's capital, on a Friday afternoon, made me jump with excitement. My buddy, M. Silber, captured me in this coral strapless dress and my cream multi stranded bib necklace. Muchas gracias to my sister, K. Pham, for letting me borrow this cute lil dress. I think I've worn it 3 times since she's purchased it. Too bad she hasn't worn it once. Score!

Top it off

Everyone is sweatin' the hat movement. For the record, I've always adored putting a hat on and calling it a day. It used to bug my mother so much for new hats ;-) Merci maman!

I have a good assortment of hats and recently found 2 snazzy hats on my NYC trip. Pictured here is not one of hats from my trip but this is getting you geared for what's to come. (Can you tell I still miss my Cancun vaca)? Enjoy the summer and keep the sun rays out by looking good while wearing something everyone will notice.

red vs. orange

On Me:
Anthropologie jacket

Sometimes I feel like it’s scary to mix such bold colors but I have to remind myself that colors next to each other on the color wheel can easily be matched. Red and orange are right next to each other on the color wheel so in this outfit I took a step towards mix matching the two together. I love this jacket. It’s a little on the military style side but then made feminine by the ruffles and the bow in the back.

Bib necklace

I heard the bib necklace was the new trend so I dug deep into my jewelry closet and found this piece. It was a piece I found at a tribal jewelry store in South Beach, FL about 4 years ago. I have NEVER worn it. I guess I just never knew what to wear it with or how to wear it. Well now that I’ve seen some options of how to wear it I feel better about this piece of jewelry. I guess I always thought it had to go w/ a pretty open neck shirt or dress. A lot of the style options I’ve seen w/ the bib necklaces really have been w/ high necklines. So I thought I’d give it a whirl. I paired this long sleeved tee with the necklace and a floral knee length poofy skirt.

Jane in the jungle...or more like Cancun

Another sunny day in Cancun!

At every opportunity I had on vaca, I had my co-traveler, sister, take all the shots we could in our beach-y wear.

My forever21 hat was my fave this trip. It kept the sun out and kept me feeling so stylish! The important stuff in life, right? Ha!

Here I am, sportin’ my bohemian tunic and my big rimmed hat. On my way to the beach!

I'm not blue anymore

Island style

On me:
linen floral tunic from Thailand
wide rimmed hat: f21
shades: Burberry

Yay! I'm not blue anymore. The warmer weather is here and my vaca to Cancun helped me get out of my hermit winter shell. Don't worry I don't have the swine people! I left just in time before the dramatical cautions began.

On this hot day in Mexico, my sister and rookie traveler, K.Pham of Amuse Vintage, and I walked to the ferry station and took it to Isla Mujeres. It was a beautiful island where we sat and did nothing ALL day. So relaxing!

More Mexico pics to come!

I'm Blue

I am so sorry but I have been feeling SO BLUE over my wardrobe lately! GASP! Maybe it's a mix of the season's changing, the cold vs. warm on unpredictable days, where these different climates restrict me from really allowing myself to indulge in FASHION, whatever it is...it's taken over me. My style is feeling the bulk of this grim gloom so I haven't blogged much on what I've been wearing. Picture a lot of black ensembles with very little accessory. Basically, SAD. Feeling down about style doesn't help with showing off fashion [echoes faaaaaaaaaashion]. Maybe it's also because I haven't been shopping since the holidays. Wait. That will do it! But it's not all that either.

So I realized this recently when I went to the mall with my cousins this past weekend and bought nothing. I can just hear the [whispers] now. I did try on a few items and nothing really made the cut. I drooled over this 3/4 length sleeved leopard jacket for a while and in the end the only result I got was amusing myself and my cousin, L.Pham of What I See Clicks, while she was just watching me and snapping pics.

Forever21, leopard 3/4 lined jacket.

I wonder when my blues will go away....I guess I'll just have to be patient and find out. Ta ta lovelies, I'll blog soon when I'm feeling a lighter shade of blue!

xoxo, La Buu

Bringing back the 80's

To bring in the New Year's we took it back to the 80's. Holding an 80's prom New Year's party at mi casa this year, I went back in time and shopped in my mother's closet. I found the perfect purple metallic dress! It was a fabulous one shoulder look, a look everyone had in the 80's AND complete with a big side waist bow. My assecories were all white, along with my white fish net stockings. You can't see my shoes but they were the perfect purple metallic match. Funny enough, the shoes were my own and I frequently wear them, besides from 80's themed nights.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I highly encourage themed parties for the rest of 2009!

HAPPY BUU DAY

I know, I know, I waited long enough to post my 30th birthday outfit. Well here it is. Something I bought way too long ago and held on to for dear life to finally premiere at my 30th birthday party. This cute little number came from a mall kiosk in Thailand. I visited Thailand with my husband earlier this Spring and we were at a super mall at the beach, Hua Hin. I spotted it from afar and as I reached closer I pulled it off the rack, mind you this is a kiosk so there was very few to choose from and this was the only one hanging. It was my size! I couldn't even try it on because I was in the middle of the mall. I threw it on over my shorts and tank and knew right away I had to have it. I forgot the cost in Thai currency but it was roughly $10 American dollars. What a steal!

I chose to save this dress for my birthday when I tried on the dress for my cousin, Lan Pham, a.k.a. Angry Asian Creations,  after my return from my trip, when she told me it looked like I stuck a bunch of cupcakes all over my body. Right then and there I knew it was a perfect birthday dress. Why not look like a cup cake on my birthday, right?

This was the only full length picture I had of the dress so please excuse the hand next to me as I'm on the dance floor shaking it all night ;-) The close up picture shows the details of my accessories for the evening. I found a big cocktail ring in the shape of a white flower, just like the 3-d flowers on my dress. The black and gold detailed earrings and bracelets I paired w/ the rest of my outfit made the dress stand out even more.  To keep the look focused on the dress I wore black opaque tights and my black patent leather lace up oxfords. I promise I'll post those shoes soon. I keep talking about them and you need to see them up close.  My handbag for the night was an old vintage sequin soft material clutch my grandmother gave me years ago.  You can slightly see it in the corner of my close up pic.

My 30th has come and gone and I feel great to be in a new age bracket. I hear 30's the new 20's and I'll have to see for myself how life begins at this point.

WEDGE ME

Good afternoon my fellow fashionista's! It has been TOO long. Well here I am, BACK. Inspired with your desire to see what's in my dressing room.

I am totally digging the lace up oxfords that have been poplular this fall/winter season. My first pair this season will be posted soon. Just think, shiny black patent leather with satin laces. Ohhh lala! For now, we'll discuss my newest oxford love. I saw them last week at the mall and decided to bypass them; time was ticking for other holiday recipients. When I was back at the mall last night and saw them still there, they were now going to be MINE. The wedge heel is a perfect 3" and simple for every day wear, especially for work.

Also inspired by my Sock it to ME post, from La Buutique's fashion news blog site, I had some funky tights to pair w/ my wedge oxfords. Got a fave funky holiday stocking or wedge much lately? Share your inspirations here!

I've been M.I.A.

Sorry for the disappearing act. I have been uninspired with my dressing room since the end of the summer. There have been a few great finds here and there but I think December will help me through this hardship. With the festive holiday spirit all around me, I believe my dressing room spirit will be revived soon enough. Stay tuned and thank you for following La Buutique's Dressing Room.

For my missing in action mood, I present to you singer, M.I.A. During this time, enjoy her for her uplifting fashion spirit.

Love, La Buu
