red vs. orange

On Me:
Anthropologie jacket

Sometimes I feel like it’s scary to mix such bold colors but I have to remind myself that colors next to each other on the color wheel can easily be matched. Red and orange are right next to each other on the color wheel so in this outfit I took a step towards mix matching the two together. I love this jacket. It’s a little on the military style side but then made feminine by the ruffles and the bow in the back.

Bib necklace

I heard the bib necklace was the new trend so I dug deep into my jewelry closet and found this piece. It was a piece I found at a tribal jewelry store in South Beach, FL about 4 years ago. I have NEVER worn it. I guess I just never knew what to wear it with or how to wear it. Well now that I’ve seen some options of how to wear it I feel better about this piece of jewelry. I guess I always thought it had to go w/ a pretty open neck shirt or dress. A lot of the style options I’ve seen w/ the bib necklaces really have been w/ high necklines. So I thought I’d give it a whirl. I paired this long sleeved tee with the necklace and a floral knee length poofy skirt.

Jane in the jungle...or more like Cancun

Another sunny day in Cancun!

At every opportunity I had on vaca, I had my co-traveler, sister, take all the shots we could in our beach-y wear.

My forever21 hat was my fave this trip. It kept the sun out and kept me feeling so stylish! The important stuff in life, right? Ha!

Here I am, sportin’ my bohemian tunic and my big rimmed hat. On my way to the beach!

I'm not blue anymore

Island style

On me:
linen floral tunic from Thailand
wide rimmed hat: f21
shades: Burberry

Yay! I'm not blue anymore. The warmer weather is here and my vaca to Cancun helped me get out of my hermit winter shell. Don't worry I don't have the swine people! I left just in time before the dramatical cautions began.

On this hot day in Mexico, my sister and rookie traveler, K.Pham of Amuse Vintage, and I walked to the ferry station and took it to Isla Mujeres. It was a beautiful island where we sat and did nothing ALL day. So relaxing!

More Mexico pics to come!

I'm Blue

I am so sorry but I have been feeling SO BLUE over my wardrobe lately! GASP! Maybe it's a mix of the season's changing, the cold vs. warm on unpredictable days, where these different climates restrict me from really allowing myself to indulge in FASHION, whatever it is...it's taken over me. My style is feeling the bulk of this grim gloom so I haven't blogged much on what I've been wearing. Picture a lot of black ensembles with very little accessory. Basically, SAD. Feeling down about style doesn't help with showing off fashion [echoes faaaaaaaaaashion]. Maybe it's also because I haven't been shopping since the holidays. Wait. That will do it! But it's not all that either.

So I realized this recently when I went to the mall with my cousins this past weekend and bought nothing. I can just hear the [whispers] now. I did try on a few items and nothing really made the cut. I drooled over this 3/4 length sleeved leopard jacket for a while and in the end the only result I got was amusing myself and my cousin, L.Pham of What I See Clicks, while she was just watching me and snapping pics.

Forever21, leopard 3/4 lined jacket.

I wonder when my blues will go away....I guess I'll just have to be patient and find out. Ta ta lovelies, I'll blog soon when I'm feeling a lighter shade of blue!

Bringing back the 80's

To bring in the New Year's we took it back to the 80's. Holding an 80's prom New Year's party at mi casa this year, I went back in time and shopped in my mother's closet. I found the perfect purple metallic dress! It was a fabulous one shoulder look, a look everyone had in the 80's AND complete with a big side waist bow. My assecories were all white, along with my white fish net stockings. You can't see my shoes but they were the perfect purple metallic match. Funny enough, the shoes were my own and I frequently wear them, besides from 80's themed nights.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I highly encourage themed parties for the rest of 2009!

HAPPY BUU DAY

I know, I know, I waited long enough to post my 30th birthday outfit. Well here it is. Something I bought way too long ago and held on to for dear life to finally premiere at my 30th birthday party. This cute little number came from a mall kiosk in Thailand. I visited Thailand with my husband earlier this Spring and we were at a super mall at the beach, Hua Hin. I spotted it from afar and as I reached closer I pulled it off the rack, mind you this is a kiosk so there was very few to choose from and this was the only one hanging. It was my size! I couldn't even try it on because I was in the middle of the mall. I threw it on over my shorts and tank and knew right away I had to have it. I forgot the cost in Thai currency but it was roughly $10 American dollars. What a steal!

I chose to save this dress for my birthday when I tried on the dress for my cousin, Lan Pham, a.k.a. Angry Asian Creations,  after my return from my trip, when she told me it looked like I stuck a bunch of cupcakes all over my body. Right then and there I knew it was a perfect birthday dress. Why not look like a cup cake on my birthday, right?

This was the only full length picture I had of the dress so please excuse the hand next to me as I'm on the dance floor shaking it all night ;-) The close up picture shows the details of my accessories for the evening. I found a big cocktail ring in the shape of a white flower, just like the 3-d flowers on my dress. The black and gold detailed earrings and bracelets I paired w/ the rest of my outfit made the dress stand out even more.  To keep the look focused on the dress I wore black opaque tights and my black patent leather lace up oxfords. I promise I'll post those shoes soon. I keep talking about them and you need to see them up close.  My handbag for the night was an old vintage sequin soft material clutch my grandmother gave me years ago.  You can slightly see it in the corner of my close up pic.

My 30th has come and gone and I feel great to be in a new age bracket. I hear 30's the new 20's and I'll have to see for myself how life begins at this point.
